I have had a studio at Bates’ Mill in Huddersfield for three years.
I feel that my work has developed, continuing to reflect my interests throughout the journey I am taking as an artist.
I live in a beautiful part of West Yorkshire where I find inspiration on my doorstep. I explore the landscape, using photography and sketches to record and plan work while on walks with my dog Petter, who also features in many of my artworks.
I love bringing the outdoors in, using colour and form to paint from nature.
The work has become more abstract. This has been a natural progression, as I have gained greater confidence, allowing a sensitivity towards my subject. I have transferred and interpreted details of light and dark, reflections and movement within my work.
I successfully completed a BA with honours in creative arts. Following this, I was involved in community-based arts projects in the Manchester area. I have also run the arts activities in an after-school club and have run arts workshops with DASH (Depression, Anxiety Self-Help group).
More recently, I have exhibited with AIM (Artists in Mind), a local charity which provides me with support and professional artistic development.
